Following devastating fires in the cape, city of Cape Town has urged residents to report any wildfires/open fires or any other signs of fire.

The City of Cape Town is urgently calling on the public to report any signs of fire outbreaks in their area.

This plea follows devastating wildfires that swept through parts of the Cape Peninsula’s vegetation earlier this week.

Although the fires in Simon’s Town and its surroundings have been successfully contained, firefighters remain vigilant against potential re-ignition.

Officials identify Simon’s Town and Glencairn Expressway in Fishhoek as current hotspots prone to flare-ups.

Jermaine Carelse, spokesperson for the City’s Fire and Rescue, emphasizes the seriousness of the situation.

He notes that the South African Weather Service has issued warnings about upcoming high temperatures, dry conditions, and strong winds, creating a conducive environment for runaway bushfires.
