Cape Town is gearing up to welcome gaming enthusiasts, developers, designers, investors, and industry professionals for Africa Games Week 2023, a premier international event showcasing the vibrant landscape of African game development.

Scheduled from Monday, 27 November, to Saturday,2 December, the event will unfold at Workshop 17 in the Watershed at the V&A Waterfront, proudly sponsored by the City of Cape Town.

Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, highlights the significance of Africa’s gaming market, recognized as the world’s fastest-growing

Forecasts indicate that the sub-Saharan African gaming industry is poised to surpass approximately R18.7 billion in 2024.

This prompted the City’s support for Africa Games Week 2023 to cultivate opportunities for investments and job creation.

Alderman Vos emphasizes the African gaming market’s projected exponential growth, foreseeing around 400 million gamers by 2027 and a remarkable 45.13% continental market increase in the next five years, per Statista.
