Planned 24-hour power outage in parts of Cape Town this weekend

The City of Cape Town says a necessary electricity supply interruption will be carried out in Century City on Sunday, 10 December 2023. 

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY INTERRUPTION IN CAPE TOWN

The municipality said maintenance will be carried out at 22:00 on Sunday, 10 December until 22:00 on Monday, 11 December.

The municipality said this is critical maintenance to important electricity infrastructure in the area as the maintenance work ensures reliable electricity supply for residents in the area.

“The electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on,” the City of Cape Town said.

WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION

Meanwhile, the City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate has announced that it will be doing planned work in certain areas, which will result in water supply disruptions from Wednesday, 6 December.
