Buthelezi’s 95th birthday: No celebration

Buthelezi has been in the hospital for more than a month after experiencing a problem with a recent operation.

The founder of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, has been in the hospital for more than a month after experiencing a problem with a recent operation.

On Sunday, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi turned 95.

Why won’t there be a celebration?

The Amazulu Traditional Prime Minister, on the other hand, won’t be participating in any lavish royal festivities; instead, he’ll be spending the day in the hospital.

The founder of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has been in the hospital for more than a month after experiencing a problem with a recent operation.

But according to his family, he is doing well.
One of the oldest statesmen in South Africa, Buthelezi is a well-known figure in politics.
He is a dedicated public servant and leader, according to the IFP.

From opposition parties and supporters, he has received a deluge of well wishes and prayers.

A “statesman of Buthelezi’s stature is still needed in South Africa,” the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal claimed.

He may be released this upcoming week, according to his family, assuming he makes consistent progress.

Why was Buthelezi hospitalised?

The elderly politician was hospitalised a month ago for routine tests and treatment for prolonged back pain and underwent a small procedure for back pain management.

Family spokesperson Dr Bhekuyise Ngqengelele Buthelezi at the time said: “Prince Buthelezi underwent a procedure for back pain management, after which he was discharged from hospital. However, when his back pain did not subside sufficiently, he was readmitted for further treatment and recovery.

“He has since developed a complication and therefore remains in hospital at this stage to receive the necessary care. The duration of his hospital stay will depend on how fast his body can recover from the complication.” he said.
