Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) founder Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who passed away early today, has been honored while he was still alive. That is highlighted by the fact that many places are named after him.

Biggest places named after Buthelezi

Out of all the places named after him, the most prominent is the higher education institution in Umlazi, the Mangosuthu University of Technology. Buthelezi played a major role in the establishment of this institution, since he was a person who was passionate about education and he was also very educated.

In this township Umlazi, which is the second largest in South Africa, there is a road named after Buthelezi, known as Mangosuthu Highway. If you go to Lundi, there is an airport called Prince Mangosuthu Airport and there is also a stadium in Lundi named after him.

If you go to Nquthu there is a road called Mangosuthu Drive as well as Piet Retief. There are many other places named after this leader as a sign of respect for him. One of them is in King Cetshwayo Municipality, there is a house named after him. In Mzinyathi there is a race named after him and also a football game that used to take place once a year.

The first black president in the country, President Nelson Mandela, made him Minister of Home Affairs, and he also made him President when he was not in South Africa.
