Recent data from Official Airline Guide has shown that the Johannesburg-Dubai flight route was one of the top 10 busiest routes in Africa.

The Johannesburg and Dubai route ranked in the top 10 busiest routes in the African region for January 2024, based on the number of scheduled airline seats booked.
This is according to the Official Airline Guide’s (OAG) latest report which ranked the busiest flight routes in the world for the month of January 2024. The aviation analysis company has the largest and most established independent network of flight schedules and flight status data in the world, Travel News reports.

As per the data from OAG, the Johannesburg-Dubai route, which had 85 014 scheduled airline seats during the month of January, was the 10th busiest, closely following Cairo to Doha, which had 94 566 seats and Paris and St Denis in Reunion Island, which had 95 146 seats.
OAG notes:
“The busiest flight routes in the world are defined as those with the largest volume of scheduled airline seats in the current calendar month.
Data is for flights in both directions on each route and is sourced from OAG Schedules Analyzer in the first week of each month. The flight data reflects the most recent full calendar month for the busiest scheduled domestic and international flight routes in each category.”
