Horrendous, Utterly horrendous. The body of Hillary Gardee – daughter of the EFF’s Head of International Relations, Godrich Gardee – was found abandoned in Mpumalanga on Tuesday.

Who is Hillary Gardee? Politician’s daughter ‘found dead’

Hillary Gardee, 28, was last seen at a supermarket in Nelspruit on Friday. She was reportedly wearing a black top and black trousers. The victim was with a three-year-old girl during her disappearance. Surprisingly, the child was found, but Hillary remained missing. Her family reported her disappearance on Saturday

A reward of R100 000 was issued for information leading to the location of Hillary Gardee, who previously resided in the Kwamagugu area near Nelspruit. However, the youngster – who was studying for a post-graduate diploma in Information Technology – was confirmed dead on Tuesday morning.

EFF speak on behalf of ‘crushed’ family

Understandably, the Gardee family are ‘distraught’ following the news – and the EFF have put a statement out on behalf of their bereaved comrade. The party also stated that her death ‘was an act of gender-based violence’.

Paying tribute to Hillary, the Red Berets hailed her ‘enthusiasm’ and ‘loving personality’. The Gardees have asked for their privacy to be respected during this difficult time, and the EFF is also pleading for compassion.

We send our own sincere condolences to the close family, relatives, and friends of Hillary Gardee.

“The body of Hillary Gardee was found abandoned outside Nelspruit in Mpumalanga. This heart-breaking news has left her family distraught, and the collective leadership of the EFF is lost for words.”

“She was an enthusiastic, kind and loving individual, who also ran her own IT business while studying at UNISA. This loss is callous, cruel and inhumane. We send our deepest condolensces to the Gardee family, and those close to Hillary. May this chapter, which ends so unfortunately, instruct us in the fight against gender-based violence.”
