The residents of Akasia and elevated regions in Soshanguve, within the City of Tshwane, find themselves grappling with persistent water scarcity.

This challenging situation persists due to the depletion of water in the Akasia Reservoirs, a consequence of a recent Eskom power failure at Rand Water’s Palmiet Pump station that occurred on a Friday.

As a result, these communities are confronted with ongoing difficulties in accessing a vital resource essential for daily life.

Despite the restoration of power at the facility, Rand Water’s system is grappling with difficulties in recovery.

Areas directly affected in Tshwane

Areas directly impacted by the water shortage include Nina Park, Theresa Park, Theresaburg, Chantelle, Wolmer, Dorandia, and Amandasig.

Additionally, the high-lying regions of Soshanguve are experiencing water shortages, with the Soshanguve L Reservoirs reaching critical low levels.
