The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate announced planned work in specific areas, leading to water supply disruptions.

In an effort to enhance water supply infrastructure and ensure the sustained provision of clean water, the City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate announced planned work in specific areas, leading to temporary water supply disruptions.

The City acknowledges any inconvenience caused and emphasises the importance of this critical maintenance for the benefit of its customers.

“The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused,” said the City.

Affected areas in Cape Town and schedule

The Westlake Industrial area is slated for maintenance on Wednesday, 6 November 2023, from 9:00 to 18:00.

During this period, water supply to the area will be temporarily shut off to facilitate the lowering of a pipeline section from the reservoir to Westlake Industrial, near Stonehurst Estate.

Purpose of the work

This initiative is part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s proactive infrastructure maintenance and upgrade programme.

By addressing issues related to unaccounted-for water, the City aims to ensure the future continuity of water supply, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the system.

Preparation tips for residents in Cape Town

To mitigate inconvenience during the planned disruptions, residents in the affected areas are advised to:

  • Store an ample supply of water in clean, sealed containers in advance.
  • Keep taps closed to prevent water loss or damage when the supply is restored.
