How much will MacKenzie Scott’s husband get in divorce?

More details are emerging surrounding the divorce of MacKenzie Scott and her husband Dan Jewett, nearly a week after the news broke. Scott filed for divorce in Washington State on Monday, 26 September 2022. She married Jewett, a high school Science teacher, in March 2021.

Scott is considered one of the wealthiest women in the world as Bloomberg says she boasts a $27 billion networth. This now raises questions around just how much Jewett will get in the divorce settlement, if he is entitled to anything at all. She received a rather generous divorce settlement after parting ways with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

WILL MACKENZIE SCOTT’S HUSBAND GET SPOUSAL SUPPORT?

The New York Times had previously reported that Dan Jewett did not contest the divorce from MacKenzie Scott, nor is there knowledge of a pre-nuptial agreement between the couple. But the couple did agree on the terms of the separation, including what becomes of the marital property, in a separation contract.

“A separation contract under Washington law is when you say to your spouse, ‘We’re going to get divorced and we can work out all the details ourselves. Let’s write it up in an agreement and we’ll just notify the court that we’ve figured everything out,’ ” said family law attorney David Glass.

Scott has four children with Bezos, to whom she had been married between 1993 and 2019.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again,” they said at the time.
