Limpopo policewoman accused of raping son denied bail

The Limpopo policewoman accused of raping and sexually grooming her son was denied bail in the Vaalbank Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Tuesday, 7 March.

LIMPOPO POLICEWOMAN DENIED BAIL

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) opposed bail. A spokesperson for the Directorate said the accused was denied bail because she does not have a fixed address and allegedly interfered with witnesses.

“The accused officer was denied bail on the grounds that she does not have a fixed address and has also interfered with witnesses,” said Suping.

The matter was postponed to 3 May for further investigation. The Limpopo policewoman is remanded in custody. Thus far, she has been held at the Dennilton Police Station.

VICTIM IN PLACE OF SAFETY

As previously reported, IPID’s application to have the victim removed from his family home was granted by the Groblersdal Children’s Court on 13 February. He is being kept at a place of safety.

The 40-year-old accused is attached to the Groblersdal SAPS. She was arrested after a video of her raping her son went viral on social media earlier this year.
