BREAKING: Level 6 warning for HEAVY rain, thunderstorms and hail NOW

Breaking – The weather services issued a Level 6 warning for HEAVY rain, thunderstorms and hail NOW in these parts of SA.

A level 6 weather warning for HEAVY rain, thunderstorms and hail NOW has been issued in these parts of the country. 

BREAKING: LEVEL 6 WARNING FOR HEAVY RAIN, THUNDERSTORMS AND HAIL 

According to the SA Weather Services (SAWS) the high-level warning is in place for Sunday evening and Monday

It warned that wind and hail damage to settlements is possible, as well as hail damage to vehicles. 

‘DO NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR TALL TREES’

“If possible, stay indoors, away from metal objects. Do not seek shelter under trees or tall objects.”

The SAWS furthermore advised the public not to go fishing or play golf as both the golf clubs and fishing rods are good conductors of electricity. 

“Be aware that any combination of hail, strong winds, and/or heavy downpours can accompany the storms.”

HAIL, STRONG WINDS, AND HEAVY DOWNPOURS CAN ACCOMPANY THE STORMS 

If possible, avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams where water is above your ankles. If trapped in a vehicle during a flood, abandon it and climb to higher ground. 

“In buildings, move valuables to a safe place above the expected flood level. Switch off electricity at the supply point to the building. In rural areas, protect/relocate animals to a safe place on higher ground. Take caution when traveling or avoid traveling as roads may be flooded, with potholes being filled with water, and there may be sinkholes.”
