Stage 5 power cuts kick in at 16:00 on Wednesday until 5:00 on Thursday, when it will be replaced by Stage 4.

“This pattern will continue until further notice. Eskom will publish a further update as soon as any significant changes occur,” said the power utility.

BREAKDOWNS

A generating unit each at Camden, Kriel, Matla and Matimba power stations returned to service over the past day.

However, a unit each went down at Duvha, Lethabo, Majuba and Tutuka Power Stations.

“The delay in returning a unit to service at Arnot, Camden, Duvha, and Kendal power stations are contributing to the current capacity constraints,” said Eskom.

As things stand, 19 031MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns, and a further 4174MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.
