Nienabar names Springboks to play in semi-finals against England

The Springboks coach, Jacques Nienaber has named the 15 rugby players that will go head-to-head against England for their Rugby World Cup semi-final game in France, Paris on Saturday, 21 October.

SEMI-FINALS: SPRINGBOKS COACH NAMES PLAYERS WHO’LL PLAY AGAINST ENGLAND

The Springboks coach Jacques Nienaber has named the experienced team that will play in Saturday’s semi-final game against England.

Those named include the team’s captain Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth, Manie Libbok, Steven Kitshoff, Frans Malherbe, Bongi Mbonambi, Damian de Allende, Jesse Kriel, Manie Libbok, Cobus Reinach, Cheslin Kolbe, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Damian Willemse, Franco Mostert, Pieter-Steph du Toit, and Duane Vermeulen.

“We’ve been building a quality Rugby World Cup squad for the last few years so that we could be in this position going into the knockout matches,” SA Rugby quoted Nienaber as saying.

Those who were placed as replacements are Deon Fourie who plays hooker/flanker, Ox Nche and Vincent Koch who are props, RG Snyman the lock, Kwagga Smith who plays as a loose forward, Faf de Klerk who is a scrumhalf, Handre Pollard a flyhalf, as well as Willie le Roux, a fullback.

“We have players like Lukhanyo Am, Canan Moodie, Andre Esterhuizen, Jasper Wiese, Jean Kleyn, and the list goes on, who are all good enough to be in this team and would have fitted in and done the job just as well as the other players. But we can only select 23 and everyone in this group is aligned and understands that the country comes first,” Nienaber was quoted as saying.
