Mpumalanga chief’s widow was gunned down this morning, just two days after his burial. Here is the latest on this brutal murder.

The widow of the late Chief Clyde Mnisi was brutally gunned down in their family home on Tuesday morning, just two days after his burial.

BREAKING- THE WIDOW OF THE CHIEF WAS SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES IN HER HEAD

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the lifeless body of 30-year-old Charlene Felicity Mathews was found around 01:10 am on Tuesday.

“Police at Calcutta were called to a shooting incident at the residential place of the late chief. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of the woman with multiple gunshot wounds on the head.”

CHARLENE WAS DECLARED DEAD ON THE SCENE

He said two other men identified as family members also sustained gunshot wounds after being shot, and they were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Charlene was declared dead on the scene.

“Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that armed suspect(s) somehow got into the house, shot at the three victims, and then fled the scene. Police found some cartridges on the scene. A team of investigators has been assembled and has already begun with the probe, hoping to arrest the perpetrator(s). Part of the investigation will establish how the suspect(s) gained entry into the house.”

TWO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WERE SHOT AND INJURED

Mohlala furthermore said the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage. No one has been arrested thus far.

The 37-year-old Clyde was laid to rest on Sunday, a week after he was killed in a hail of bullets on the road leading to the Kruger Mpumalanga International (KMI) airport outside White River.

THE CHIEF WAS GUNNED DOWN LAST MONTH AND BURIED ON SUNDAY

His killers are still at large and have not yet been found.

Police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the suspect(s) to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential, and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE BRUTAL MURDERS

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has strongly condemned the brutal murders.
