Bogus doctor Matthew Lani to appear in court

A bogus doctor “Dr. Matthew Lani” posing as a professional was caught and handed to the police, as reported by Gauteng Department of Health.

In recent news, a bogus doctor who pretended to be a proffesional doctor, calling himself “Dr. Matthew Lani,” has been caught and given over to the police, according to the Gauteng Department of Health.

This happened at the Helen Joseph Hospital, where he was acting like he worked there.

Bogus doctor caught in Helen Joseph Hospital

The hospital’s security guards caught this fake doctor as he tried to get in through the main entrance. He was dressed up, wearing a mask over his face and a stethoscope around his neck.

What’s really surprising is that this wasn’t the first time he had done this at the hospital.

He had come in before and spread false information, making people believe he was a real doctor. After they caught him the first time, he tried to escape through a bathroom window, but they caught him again.

Arrested and set to appear in court

The police have now officially arrested him, and he will be facing charges for pretending to be a doctor. In a video on social media, he said, “he didn’t mean to cause any harm and that he never claimed to work at the hospital.”

“Another case of impersonating was opened at Tembisa where the same suspect is alleged to have utilised the credentials of a practicing doctor to fool other hospital staff,” read the SAPS statement.
