Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga is expected tomorrow, Wednesday 17 January, to be joined by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane at an event to mark the official opening of schools.
The Minister, Gauteng premier and MEC for Education will visit Kgatoentle Secondary School in Garankuwa, Tshwane West, where a walk-about and then program will be hosted in the school hall.
This event replaces the initial plan by the Basic Education Minister and the Gauteng leadership to hand over a new school in Midrand. The handover of Mayibuye Primary School was abruptly cancelled due to weather concerns.

Meanwhile, hundreds of children will be moving on to the next grades while the little ones will begin their first chapter of a 12-year schooling journey.
As mixed emotions are expected to fill hundreds of schools tomorrow, mixed weather is also expected to be part of the scenes.
