Eerily similar modus operandi or a Thabo Bester copycat? Khululekani Justin Ngqeza, the newest ‘Facebook rapist‘ has been handed three life sentences and 280years behind bars by the Makhanda High Court.

The 36year old man from iQonce(formerly King Williams Town), lured 10 females aged between 15-21 years via the popular social media platform, promising them lucrative modelling jobs. His crafty ploy to exploit his victims started in 2019 to 2020 when he was finally arrested in May 2020.

TRACKING DOWN A RAPIST

During his 2 year stint, he set up to meet his victims in B& B’s or in secluded bushy areas where he would make them pay for the photographs and then rape them.

After raping his last victim in May 2020 in Queenstown, the victim immediately went to the police station. After learning Ngqeza may be on his way to Mthatha, a roadblock was set up and he was arrested at the Kei Bridge on 19 May 2020.

SENTENCING

Ngqeza did not only operate in the Eastern Cape, as three of his victims are from the Western Cape in Woodstock and Sea Point.

Ngqeza he was found guilty on all of his charges ranging from rape to trafficking in persons.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Nomthetheleli Mene, lauded the swift work of the investigating team.

“These sentences are a victory for all the victims who have suffered such humiliating degradation at the mercy of a cruel man. Lengthy jail sentences such as this brings hope to all victims that justice prevails and that the cycle of violence against women and children can and must be broken”, says Mene.
