Andile Dlamini is a professional football player who plays for Banyana-Banyana, she was born and raised in Gauteng.

Andile Dlamini says her love for football arose at an early age, “I can’t really recall, but when I was 12 years, when I played for a girl’s team and experiencing the pain of losing the league, winning tournaments and the feeling of expressing myself through sports and learning of the opportunities soccer could create.” Said the renowned ladies’ soccer player.

In a man’s world Andile Dlamini creates a name for herself

Andile Dlamini got her first big role in sport in 2011 for Banyana-Banyana. She said playing for Banyana-Banyana has been and will always be an honour, as she gets to learn something new in each and every season.

The Banyana-Banyana number 1 goalkeeper won a major award in March 2023. Andile Dlamini said she’s beyond grateful to be named the South African Sports Star of the Year 22. “It’s been a rough patch, but I appreciate everything that has come my way. I’m thankful for the Sports Star of the Year award, it really means a lot to me, and I want to thank each and every one who has been there for me, supported me, and encouraged me to keep on going. I also have to give thanks to God for the gift of life and the talent to keep on playing and making everyone happy,” said Andile Dlamini.

To rising over hurdles!

In 2020 during the height of Covid-19 Andile Dlamini’s world came crushing down as she contracted the disease. “”I went through a heart infusion during Covid and had to stay home for about five to six months,
“The heart infusion doesn’t allow you to jump, run or walk [far] distances. You have a tight chest. When they say you have a heart infusion, it has water; mine was the size of my nail on the small finger.” Andile told News24

Dlamini said she managed to bounce back like she’s never been sick and claimed her place among the top achievers between the year 2021 until this year.
