ANCWL slams Duma for undermining Premier Dube-Ncube

ANCWL says they stand with Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube and will continue to advocate for a government that respects women in leadership

The African National Congress Women’s League(ANCWL) has slammed KwaZulu-Natal ANC Chairperson Siboniso Duma for allegedly undermining of Premier Nomusa Dube Ncube.

DUMA TAKES CENTRE STAGE

The stick that broke the camel’s back for the ANCWL, is a viral video doing the rounds on social media, where during the Springbok trophy tour in Durban, the Premier was called forward to lift the trophy. However, Duma reach for it first and hoisted it up with Eben Etzebeth.

ANCWL deputy secretary general Dina Pule says Duma’s actions have no place within the ruling party.

“The actions of Siboniso Duma demonstrates a regrettable departure from this essential value, perpetuating harmful gender stereotypes which have no place within the ANC or in broader political discourse”, says Pule.

ANCWL STANDS WITH DUBE-NCUBE

Pule, says that is not the first time that a leading of the party in the province is not elected as premier. This is evident in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Free State and Gauteng.

“Gender equality is not just an ideal but a fundamental principle that the ANC identifies with” emphasise Pule.

“The Premier of KZN Nomusa Dube-Ncube, is the duly appointed head of government, entrusted with the responsibility to lead the province towards progress, prosperity and the fulfilment of the aspirations of ots citizens and should not be undermined in her course to do so”, she concluded.
