EFF sends condolences to families of deceased ANC supporters

Nine ANC supporters lost their lives when a bus they were travelling in crashed in Paulpietersburg between KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has sent its condolences to the families of nine ANC supporters who lost their lives on Sunday, 25 February.

A bus ferrying ANC supporters who had attended the party’s manifesto launch in Durban crashed in the early hours of Sunday between KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga.

As previously reported by The South African, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport said the accident happened around 5:00 and about seven kilometers before eDumbe town from R34.

“Scores of other occupants sustained injuries, with four being more critical. They have all been taken to a local hospital. The cause of the accident is being investigated, and experts will be deployed to assist with the forensic investigation,” the department said.

Following the tragic accident, the EFF said it mourns with the leadership of the ANC, the membership and all the families of the deceased.

“In this period of elections where contestation is high and animosity between political parties characterises relations, it is important to show humanity and empathy in tragedies of this nature,” the party said.
