Orkney Snork Nie is another Du Plessis and Esterhuizen creation.

it’s classic Afrikaans television, set in the small town of Orkney.

There’s something about the decor that might remind viewers of a different time. The show featured a regular, South African family doing regular, South African family things.

Afrikaans drama: Kooperasiestories

Kooperasiestories is an Afrikaans drama.

Every episode was based around a short story.

Stories are set around the local co-op, who sit around and discuss (gossip about!) the town’s people and happenings.

It’s 7de Laan for a different era.

The Casper Rasper Show is a South African comedy skit show, filmed and written by comedian Casper de Vries.

It originally aired on KykNet.

It’s a classic Afrikaans show, though not all Afrikaans people appreciated its humour.

7de Laan was the longest-running South African soap opera.

The show wasn’t just Afrikaans, but incorporated almost all of its cultures and languages over time.

SABC removed it from our screens in 2023, but you can still see some of its episodes online.
