ActionSA says it will work with all like-minded parties in the City of Johannesburg to achieve a motion of no confidence against Joburg Mayor Thapelo Amad and Council Speaker Colleen Makhubele.

ActionSA Caucus spokesperson in the City of Johannesburg, Funzi Ngobeni said they would be engaging all parties, those they were in collision with and those that were outside their coalition.

“We are doing this in the interest of the citizens of Johannesburg. We believe that Thapelo has totally failed to live up to the position that he occupies. We believe that Colleen Makhubele has continuously acted in a dishonest manner.

“So we will be tabling this motion at the end of the month, and we will be engaging all political parties, those that we were in coalition with and those that were outside the coalition,” said Ngobeni.

MAKHUBELE USES ILL HEALTH TO AVOID DUTIES

The party accused Makhubele of using ill health as an excuse not to attend to her duties in the City of Johannesburg council but was spotted in the City of Tshwane on the same day attending to internal COPE squabbles.

“Thapelo Amad and Colleen Makhubele did not elect themselves with their three seats collectively; they were elected by a compromise deal in which it appears the residents of Joburg are being asked to make the biggest compromise. This is why ActionSA is taking action,” said ActionSA Caucus spokesperson in the City of Johannesburg, Sthembelo Majola.
