Despite voting for DA Mayor Dr Mpho Phalatse to govern Joburg less than a week ago, ActionSA and the DA are already having issues. ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba is slamming the DA for calling a council meeting with just one item on the agenda.

Speaker of the City of Johannesburg Council, the DA’s Vasco Da Gama, has called a council meeting for Thursday the 2nd of December.
Mayor Phalatse is expected to make her first proper address as mayor at that meeting. But ActionSA is adamant that it’s just a glorified acceptance speech.
Mashaba says there is no need for a special council meeting to be called for Phalatse’s first speech. He’s even going as far as writing to Da Gama asking him to cancel the meeting.
ActionSA wants the mayor to rather make her speech the following week. That’s when an ordinary council meeting will take place regardless.
Mashaba says the new Johannesburg government can not expect residents to bear the costs. Especially with already struggling just to receive decent service delivery.
Let’s see if Helen Zille and co clap back at Mashaba on this one.
