ACSA says they want to ensure that all passengers are compliant when it comes to hand luggage at SA airports this festive season.

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has announced that they plan to clamp down on passengers who do not meet hand luggage regulations, and are usually found with non-compliant items at airports in South Africa.

According to travel news, ACSA now aims to identify passengers with non-compliant items before they reach the security checkpoint, where if found to be in violation, will be directed back to check-in counters to transfer their hand luggage to checked-in baggage.
The airport operator says that their decision to enforce these rules will not only help the airport to manage the surge in travellers over the holidays, but it will also strengthen thei efforts in combating criminal activities.

“The safety of our passengers is of utmost importance to Acsa. As such, the hand baggage regulations are in place to ensure that we can provide the safest possible environment for our visitors and to ensure that they have a seamless experience at our airports,” Laurene Less, Group Executive: Corporate Services at ACSA said.
According to ACSA, the regulations are not new, but they will be now be enforced with more effect.
