A total of 23 injured in Dobsonville bus accident

Paramedics said 23 people were injured when a bus and light motor vehicle collided on Dobsonville Road (M77) on Thursday morning.

A total of 23 people were injured in a bus accident outside Dobsonville on Thursday morning.

WHAT DO WE KNOW OF THE ACCIDENT?

According to ER24 emergency service spokesperson Ross Campbell a bus and a light motor vehicle collided on the Dobsonville Road (M77) near the Marpatients’e landfill outside Dobsonville.

“ER24 paramedics arrived at 08:22 this morning (Thursday) along with Provincial EMS services to find all of the passengers sitting or standing outside the bus.

“Luckily, only two of the 23 adults injured had suffered moderate injuries and the rest of the patients’ minor injuries,” Campbell said.

THE INJURED WERE TREATED ON THE SCENE

He said nineteen patients were treated on the scene before being transported to a hospital by Provincial EMS.

“Six other people were treated on the scene and transported by ER24 to a private hospital in the area for further care,” Campbell said.

The driver of the light motor vehicle was unharmed in the incident.

SECOND MAJOR CASUALTY ACCIDENT IN ONE WEEK

Meanwhile, a total of nineteen people were injured in an unrelated collision between two taxis and a truck on Innes Road in Boksburg on Tuesday evening.

Campbell said paramedics arrived on the scene at around 17:40 along with one other private medical service.

“All those involved had managed to self-extricate from the vehicles and were both male and female adults being transported home from work.

The driver of the truck was uninjured in the collision. All the patients on the scene were found to be suffering minor to moderate injuries,” he said.

THE INJURED WERE TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL

Campbell said thirteen people were treated on the scene and transported to a hospital for further care, while the remaining three people declined transportation.

Metro police were also on the scene for further investigations.
