Former President Kgalema Motlanthe was spotted at Killarney as he cast his vote earlier today in the 2019 elections. He addressed the media at the Killarney Country Club before and after making his mark.

He was accompanied by his wife Gugu and greeted voters jovially, even taking the time to pose for photos and selfies.

When asked why he didn’t “jump the queue,” Motlanthe said waiting in line was the right thing to do. He explained:

“If you jump the queue in this respect, one respect of casting a vote, what stops you from also jumping the queue in all other respects.”

“Weaknesses in the ANC” will be addressed after the elections

As reported by Amil Umraw from Times Live, Motlanthe also said that he is aware of the weaknesses within the ANC. He added that there’s “no doubt in [his] mind” that it will be attended to after the election.

In addition, Motlanthe urged all South African citizens to head to the polls today and cast their vote, reminding everyone that “this right to vote came at a high price.”

“Those who vote will determine the future of this country. As long as you are going to be living in SA, it’s important to adopt the view that none but yourself can change the future of the establishment.”

Furthermore, he said that it is the sixth time he casts his vote and is “happy there are more parties contesting” in the 2019 elections.
