A young girl was allegedly shot dead by armed suspects who opened fire at a party in Westbury, Johannesburg.

A 12-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead at a friend’s party in Westbury, Johannesburg.
The incident happened on Saturday night, 10 June.
YOUNG GIRL SHOT IN WESTBURY
The 12-year-old girl was shot and killed by unknown men who reportedly entered the house and began firing shots.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the minor was found in a pool of blood.
She was then rushed to hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries.
“The girl was believed to have been at a party and the circumstances that led to this shooting are unknown at this stage and no suspects are arrested as yet,” the spokesperson said.

CHILD MURERS DECLINE BY 19.9%
Less child murders were reported in South Africa between January and March 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
This was revealed by Police Minister Bheki Cele when he presented the crime stats for the first three months of 2023.
According to the minister, child murders decreased by almost 20% (19.9%) and a slight decrease was also noted in assault GBH cases of children.
Sadly and alarmingly, 29 more children were victims of attempted murder compared to the same comparative period in 2022 and 360 more attempted murder cases were registered and investigated by the SAPS involving minors.
