Mick Schumacher returned to the wheel of a Formula 1 car after getting a run in the Mercedes W14 during this week’s Pirelli tyre test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
This comes a days after both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell praised the young driver for turning the Spanish Grand Prix weekend around which saw them finish on the podium.
Schumacher, who’s now a reserve driver for Mercedes following his departure from Haas last year, worked flatout on the simulator on Friday night after his team had a poor practice session.

His efforts came in handy as the team was able to adjust the correct set-ups for Sunday’s race.
Hamilton was full of praises for Schumacher’s role
“Friday was a real struggle with the balance, it was way out of the window.
“It was very hard to drive, very unpredictable. And then we did some great work overnight.
“We’ve got a great team, with Mick back in the simulator on Friday night, and he did some great work, which helped us get on the right track on Saturday,” Hamilton said on Schumacher.
Following his hard work, Schumacher got his first run in the machine on Wednesday, marking his return to an F1 cockpit.
Schumacher has been a regular visitor to the F1 paddock this season in his back-up role, which also includes work in Mercedes’ simulator back at base in Brackley.
Mercedes’ double podium puts them above Aston Martin and into second in the constructors’ standings.

Mick is the son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher. He made his debut back in 2021 for Haas and raced for them for two years before getting the chop.
