Sergio Perez facing Lewis Hamilton’s resurgence; P2 battle is on

Perez crashed out of the Sprint Race in Qatar and the gap between him and Lewis Hamilton is now cut to 29 points.

With Max Verstappen winning his third F1 title, the battle for second place is heating up between Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton.

The Dutchman has claimed his third Formula One title in a row after finishing second in the Qatar Sprint Race on Saturday night.

His teammate, Sergio Perez is second in the driver’s standings but is under pressure from Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton.

The Mexican driver has had a good start to the season, winning the two of the first four races but since then, he has underperformed in a very good Red Bull car. Not only is his position for second under threat, but also his position as a Red Bull Driver.

Rumour has it that should the Mexican fail to secure second after the season, he might get booted out of the team

“It (second place overall) is important because that’s the best I can get now,” Perez told reporters ahead of the Qatar GP.

“I think all the drivers in here want to get the best possible season.”

“And more than that, to me, it’s very important to finish the season on a high. Because that only helps the start of next year. So, to me, it’s very important to get on top of it and make sure that we are able to deliver in the next six races,” he said.
