McLaren driver Lando Norris is set to join Red Bull according to former Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill.

Norris is a target for Red Bull following his exceptional performance at the British Grand Prix almost two weeks ago.

The 23-year-old has his home crowd at his feet after finishing second in Silverstone behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Hill says Red Bull’s Sergio Perez’s performance in the last six races could see him exit the club.

“I think he’s already under pressure.

“They cannot afford to have a car that good and not have two cars right up there for the championship,”  said Hill.

Norris to Red Bull a match made in heaven

Perez is definitely underpressure and his contract is expected to run out next season but with Norris emerging as a possible candidate, the Mexican might be booted out before next year.

Speaking to the Independent, Hill suggested that Norris could be a great option for Red Bull.

Norris reportedly signed a long-term deal with McLaren until the end of 2025 but should Red Bull decide to bring him to the team, they might need to pay a lot.

“It’s a long time, I’d have done three years tops,” Hill said regarding Norris’s contract extension with McLaren.

“If you’re that confident in yourself, you need to be able to move when the time is right.”

McLaren’s recent upgrades have brought the team closer to the front in the past two races. Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri finished second and fourth repectively in Silverstone to give McLaren their best finish in over three years.
