The shortened-race format was back in 2021 and has brought lots of excitement from fans who now get to see racing twice a weekend in some circuits.

Last season, changes were made which saw Friday’s qualifying starting order for Sunday’s main event while Saturday was reserved for sprint shootout and sprint race.

Verstappen not a big fan of sprint races

“I think that’s way better for the excitement. I naturally, of course, hope that there won’t be too many changes – otherwise I won’t be around for too long,” Verstappen said after the Australian Grand Prix last year.

“I’m just not a big fan of it, because I feel like we don’t really race. Okay, there are a few points to get, but you also know that you can’t really risk it because the main race is where you really get the points.”

Verstappen dominated the 2023 F1 season, winning 19 out of the 22 races.
