Merc-AMG SL63 S E Performance blends a V8 and electric power

The Merc-AMG SL63 S E Performance sports a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine and mixes that with AMG’s Electric Drive Unit for crazy power.

The Merc-AMG SL63 S E Performance is the flagship in the SL range and sports a bi-turbo V8 petrol engine with a capacity of 4.0-litres and mixes that with  AMG’s Electric Drive Unit.

Peak power is mammoth 600kW and an unbelievable torque figure of 1420Nm. Merc-AMG claims a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 2.7 seconds and it’ll run out of puff at a dizzying 317km/h.

THE MERC-AMG SL63 S E PERFORMANCE IS THE ULTIMATE DROP TOP MONSTER

The practical dimensional concept with 2+2 seats offers generous space in the interior.

It uses a nine-speed AMG transmission that sends the power to the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive for extra traction, says Top Gear. The development of the lithium-ion energy storage is inspired by technologies proven in the Formula hybrid racing cars of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team according to Mercedes.

It has several driving modes including “Electric”, “Battery Hold”, “Comfort”, “Smoothness”, “Sport”, “Sport+”, “RACE”, and “Individual”, according to Mercedes-Benz.

Visually the flagship Merc-AMG SL63 stands out by its trapezoidal twin tailpipe trims and 20-inch multi-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels.
