Formula 1: Top 10 wealthiest drivers ever

In 2022 Formula 1 generated revenues of $2.57 billion, it is a sport that is synonymous with money. We look at the top 10 richest F1 drivers.

Formula 1 is widely known as a sport that generates a lot of money. In turn it attracts many wealthy people who see it as an opportunity to make more money

In 2022 Formula One Management (FOM) reported revenues of $2.57 billion, and the amount of $1.157 billion was distributed between the 10 teams according to AutoSport.

SOME FORMULA 1 DRIVERS COME FROM MONEY WHILE SOME HAVE AMASSED FORTUNES FROM THE SPORT

The team at F1 Matrix has made a video showcasing the top 10 richest drivers yet. They said: “It’s no secret that F1 Drivers have amassed huge fortunes, but do you know who the Wealthiest Formula 1 drivers of all time are?”

“Some of them might surprise you! Watch this video as we explore the massive amounts of money these 10 drivers have accumulated during their careers, and even after, as some of the top Formula one drivers ever to compete!”, they said.

The list includes drivers like Alain Prost. Known as ‘The Professor’, the Frenchman won the Formula 1 drivers’ championship four times and took 51 victories in his career, according to F1.com.

His success was overshadowed by several controversial moments including a feud with McLaren teammate Ayrton Senna.

Other Formula 1 drivers included on the list are Eddie Irvine, Mario Andretti, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, 2009 world champion Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen, Niki Lauda, two-time champion Fernando Alonso.

These drivers have amassed small fortunes from contracts with teams, endorsement deals and investments. Teams pay drivers lots of money to put themselves in the world’s fastest form of motorsport and try and score points.
