HOW DO THE TWO AMERICAN BAKKIES MATCH UP IN THIS DRAG RACE?

Let’s look at the numbers linked to both vehicles. The Cybertruck uses three electric motors sending power to all four wheels a massive 630kW and 930Nm while in its most extreme “Beast Mode”.

The US carmaker quotes an outrageous zero to 100km/h claimed time of 2.6 seconds. Oh yes, the Cybertruck has enough grunt to two 4988kg. The electric weighs over 3000kg and has a top speed of around 210km/h.

The Blue Oval’s Raptor R edition sports a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine with 521kW and 870Nm of torque.

The Raptor R edition sends its power to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Ford’s ultimate bakkie weighs around 2.7 tons and miraculously still weighs less than the Cybertruck. That will surely help it in the drag race, right? Watch and find out.

“So will it be yet another win for the Cybertruck? Or could the all-American F-150 snatch it? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S DRAG RACE!”, Carwow said.

THREE VERSIONS OF THE CYBERTRUCK WILL BECOME AVAILABLE

According to Reuters, pricing for the Cybertruck will begin at $60 990 or around R1.3 million. The vehicle will not be a high-volume model like the brand’s other models.

The South African-born entrepreneur said his carmaker would likely hit peak production of the Cybertruck of around 250 000 a year in 2025.

Customers in the United States will start receiving their new models in early January after placing their orders and paying $100 deposit more than two years ago.
