Three of the top supercars in the world line up for an epic drag race, will it be the Ferrari 296 GTB, McLaren 765 LT or the Porsche GT2 RS?

We love a good drag race in the motoring section and what better than a new video that pits three supercars against each other: the Ferrari 296 GTB, McLaren 765 LT and the Porsche GT2 RS.

UK-based motoring publication, Carwow, is best known for their drag race videos and their latest one has all the ingredients to go viral.

THE FERRARI SUFFERED LAUNCH CONTROL ISSUES IN THE DRAG RACE

Let’s dive into the performance details of each protagonist. Beginning with the Ferrari, it features a three-litre twin-turbo V6 engine coupled with an electric motor which combines to produce 618kW and 740Nm. The high power figure will aid the Fezza immensely in a drag race.

The Italian sends its power exclusively to the rear axle and records a dry weight of 1570kg.

Next up is the McLaren 765 LT, the suffix stands for Long Tail, and has featured on McLaren’s race cars of yesteryear.

The British-built supercar employs a four-litre twin-turbo V8 570kW and a Ferrari-beating 800Nm to take on the other two in a drag race. Power is also sent to the rear wheels and it’s significantly lighter at 1339kg.

THE PORSCHE IS THE ONLY ENGINE WITH INLINE CYLINDERS OF THE TRIO

Lastly, there is the magnificent Porsche GT2 RS. It uses a high-revving 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine delivering 521kW and 750Nm to the rear wheels. The rear-engined car weighs in at 1470kg.

The Porsche is down on power in comparison to its rivals and weighs more than the McLaren.
