Valentine’s Day is all about showering significant others with love, but this might cause a challenge if you’re single. Monday 14 February is fast approaching and if you’re single, you might not have any.

Here are five things you can do as a singleton on Valentine’s Day!

If you’re single, Valentine’s Day is the perfect way to mingle with other singles. Cape Town’s gorgeous Table Mountain will be hosting its first-ever speed dating event for all the singles. You’ll only have a few minutes to make a good impression on your date so make it count!

The event will happen over three nights. Monday 14 February is for heterosexual singles, Tuesday 15 February is for LGBTQI+ singles and Wednesday 16 February is for singles aged 50+.

The tickets are R500 each and include drinks, food and a return ticket on the cableway.

If you love animals then volunteer at your local SPCA. Many of the animals at the shelter need the warmth and a human being’s touch. To volunteer at the SPCA you will have to complete a form and indicate which branch you wish to visit.

A staff member will be in touch to confirm your visit. Those volunteering alone must be over the age of 18.

Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to learn a new skill or try a new recipe. You can hit the driving range for some golf or take a solo cooking class if you want to sharpen your skills in the kitchen.

Why not try a pottery class or hit the Clay Café with some friends.

Hit your nearest salon to give yourself a new hair colour or ask your hairdresser to grab those scissors if you’re feeling experimental. Even though we’re two months into the year, it’s never too late to try something new!

Pampering yourself is the ultimate way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Switch off, order your favourite meal and cozy up to a Netflix series. Why not put on a face mask for some glowing skin.

It is also important to take some time out for yourself in these difficult times.
