The non-profit organisation recently announced that the Suidooster star would be coming on board as one of its goodwill ambassadors.

“I feel so incredibly fortunate to be part of the Justice Desk’s team, who work tirelessly, and always passionately, to alleviate the suffering experienced by so many of our nation’s people,” Spaumer said.

“I cannot call myself a child of Africa if I do not live my life according to the Ubuntu philosophy, where I can only be because someone else is.”

More about the Justice Desk

The Justice Desk is an award-winning human rights organisation that operates in three African countries — South African, Zambia and Zimbabwe — and aims to empower local people by helping them better understand their human rights.

The organisation focuses on four key areas: Gender-based violence (GBV), children’s rights, trafficking in persons (TIP) and human rights education.

This is where Spaumer comes in as he will bring the influence and reach of his platforms to raise awareness and support the organisation’s work.

Spaumer a promoter of gender and queer rights

Spaumer identifies as a queer man, and strongly believes in the value of gender and queer rights.

“In order for me to live fully and completely, those who walk this earth alongside me need to live fully and completely as well,” Spaumer said.

“I want another’s life to matter as much as my own, to be protected as much as my own, and to be as joyful and free and welcomed as much as my own.”
