South Africa is taking over Instagram during April 2019. 15 local and international Instagrammers from the USA, Canada, Germany, and Australia will tour the country looking for 25 of its best locations.

Locations that are worthy for a post on “The Gram.”

The Citizen reports that this initiative is a collaboration between South African Tourism (SA Tourism), Travelstart and @SouthAfrica. It also forms part of SA Tourism’s 25 years of Democracy celebrations.

25 Best Instagrammable locations

The Instagrammers will use this “Insta Tour” to search all nine South African provinces for the “25 best Instagrammable locations.”

SA Tourism CEO, Sisa Ntshona says this will “highlight the beauty South Africa has to offer and will expose the world to some of our lesser known sights, [that are] still worth travelling to see.”

The pictures will be shared on all SA Tourism’s global social media platforms. They will also be shared by the @MeetSouthAfrica account on Instagram. Content will also be featured on @Travelstart and @SouthAfrica.

Top 5 Instagrammable countries

South Africa grabbed the fifth spot as most ‘Instagrammable’ country in the world. The survey looked at 192 countries and they were ranked according to best places to visit, visual appeal and popularity on Instagram.

South Africa is one of the most Instagrammable countries on earth, and I love that we get to showcase 25 of our most photographic locations with the world.

There are a number of very instagrammable spots around South Africa. Cape Town boasts The Bo Kaap and Table Mountain. Jozi has The Orlando Towers. Durbs has The Drakensburg and seaside.

The “Insta Tour” will be completed on the 27th April in Arniston in the Western Cape on April 27. There will also be an Instameet held that day.

FYI an Instameet is an event for all Instagram enthusiasts (Instathusiasts?) to meet and share stories and photos.
