SASSA reminder: Social Relief of Distress payments begin TODAY

Here’s a reminder that Social Relief of Distress grants for January 2024 begin paying out TODAY, until Wednesday 31 January.

EASY STEPS TO APPLY

If you have access to the internet, visit the SASSA Social Relief of Distress website HERE. Type in a working cellphone number. You will be sent an SMS to that number. Simply follow the prompts …

Alternatively, you can use USSD on your phone. Dial *134*7737#. Follow a series of prompts as explained in the video above. Confirm your citizenship status and if the agency can verify your personal details.

WHATSAPP SERVICE

You can even secure a Social Relief of Distress grant by WhatsApp. Simply send a WhatsApp to 082 046 8553. However, do not apply through multiple means, as the system only needs one application per person.

Below we’ll list the latest known SASSA payment dates for 2024 beyond January. Diarise these so you can make payment arrangements. Remember that cash payments at SA Post Office branches will be phased out by the end of March 2024.

FEBRUARY 2024

• Older Persons Grants: Friday 2 February 2024.
• Disability Grants: Monday 5 February 2024.
• Children’s Grants: Tuesday 6 February 2024.
• Social Relief of Distress: 23 – 29 February 2024.

MARCH 2024

• Older Persons Grants: Tuesday 5 March 2024.
• Disability Grants: Wednesday 6 March 2024.
• Children’s Grants: Thursday 7 March 2024.

The South African Social Security Agency wishes to remind beneficiaries that payments can take 2-3 days to reflect in your bank account. You can now contact the President with a complaint. Simply dial the President’s toll-free hotline on 17737. You can also email: president@presidency.gov.za.
