While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are waiting for the arrival of their first child, betting odds of what they will name baby Sussex are heating up.

What will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry name their first child?

According to Oddschecker, the name Diana (12/1) is the most popular choice for a girl while Charles is the most popular name if it’s a boy.

Other favourites for a girl is Grace, Frances, Alexandra, Victoria and Alice, while Arthur and James are also popular odds for a baby boy according to the aggregator.

There’s also been a spike in the backing of names like Theresa (200/1) and Joffrey, Dennis or Donald (500/1). Of course, bookies think if it should be a girl, Meghan would also consider naming her child Doria, after her mother.

According to The Week, the betting site also slashed its odds on Meghan giving birth to twins amid rumors that she’s currently carrying two babies.

The site is now posting 4/1 odds on the couple parenting twins, with Alex Apati of Ladbrokes saying: “There have been plenty of whispers about Meghan carrying twins and the latest odds suggest that may well be the case.”

However, Hello! magazine said that while two babies “would be simply adorable”, it believes Kensington Palace “would have confirmed that Meghan was expecting twins in the initial announcement, meaning that the royal couple are almost certainly expecting one baby”.

Royal Baby 2019: Title

As Harper’s Bazaar points out, Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby is unlikely to become a prince or princess, unlike the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

“Per royal history, George V’s 1917 official order states only Prince Charles‘s eldest son should receive a royal title. Her Majesty altered that decree in December 2012 when she declared all of Kate and William’s children would be given the title of His or Her Royal Highness, as well as prince or princess.”

In the case of Baby Sussex, only a dukedom can be inherited if a baby boy is born. As for a little girl, she would become a Lady. Of course, the Queen could very well decide the upcoming royal baby is deserving of its own title.

Their child will be seventh in line to the throne.
