Do owls like to be petted?

Most owls, despite their captivating appearance, are not fond of being petted or cuddled. As wild birds of prey, they have evolved to be independent and self-sufficient, often preferring to maintain a distance from humans. Attempting to handle or cuddle an owl can cause them stress and discomfort, as it goes against their natural instincts and behaviours. Additionally, owls have sharp talons and beaks designed for hunting and self-defense, which can inadvertently cause injury to humans during attempts at physical interaction. Therefore, it’s crucial to respect their boundaries and appreciate them from a distance to ensure their well-being and safety, as well as our own.
