Since 2004, a few studies have been conducted on cats, but more research is needed.

The independent nature of cats is the main challenge in studying them, according to Hungarian ethologist Dr. Ádám Miklósi.

Cats often don’t cooperate, follow directions, or participate in the same way as dogs, making research on feline intelligence limited.

Cat owners can relate to their cats’ independent nature, as cats prefer doing things their own way most of the time.

However, it’s precisely this independence that makes us love our cats. So No, they probably don’t need us.

But, what do you think? Do cats need an owner?
