It is alleged that a Zambian citizen was allowed to pass through the airport’s checkpoints with a bag of gold to meet the Egyptians on the plane.

However, reports have it that the Egyptians demanded more gold, and their movement got the attention of other airport officials. Due to suspicious activities, officials visited the plane and intercepted the deals before making arrests.

BBC reports that several airport officers who entered the plane are now being investigated for allegedly taking $200,000 in bribes from the Egyptian nationals aboard the plane.

This was to allow the plane to take off without arresting anyone, but that was not the cash.
