Oprah Winfrey has become one of the most famous faces on the planet, with her television show one of the most watched and syndicated in the world – even beating out other famous talk-show hosts like Maury and Jerry Springer for the most-watched.

She’s an actress and author, too, and she’s even known for her connections to South Africa.

But did you know that Oprah Winfrey wasn’t always one of the most famous women in the world, and once upon a time had a first audition tape just like everyone else?

Here’s more – including a video that’s resurfaced of the celebrity’s first-ever audition.

Before the star’s almost immediate fame as an international talk-show host with her own show, Winfrey was still a journalist and television anchor – and she started with a regular audition tape long before she was the star of the Oprah Winfrey show.

About the Show

The star we know as Winfrey was born in 1954, and got her first television break in the eighties – when the Oprah Winfrey Show went live for United States television audiences.
