Ngizwe Mchunu apologises for tribalistic remarks

Controversial musician Ngizwe Mchunu has issued an apology to Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema for his negative remarks regarding during his social media rant last week.

Mchunu, who last month was cleared of charges relating to instigating the 2021 July Unrest, came under attack from social media and the EFF where he was accused of tribalism.

The former Ukhozi FM presenter, told Malema that KwaZulu-Natal is for Zulu people only and that the EFF Manifesto should be launched in Limpopo and not at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

In his statement, Mchunu says that he is not a tribalistic individual as he has been portrayed.

“Into engifisa ukuyicacisa ukuthi angiyena umuntu obandlulula ngokobuhlanga. Izizwe zonke ezikhona kuleli lakithi ngiyazihlonipha”, says Mchunu.

Mchunu also called Malema a shangane- a derogatory term used by Zulu people to describe a black person speaking a non Nguni language.

Social media were however with Mchunu’s written apology and demand he do it in camera.

@54battalion says, “Ngizwe Mchunu apologized with a letter he must apologize with a video and we’ll decide whether to forgive or not.

While @_masgesha adds, “Ngizwe Mchunu can apologise all he wants but this guy is a clear tribalist it’s not even funny.”

Chinese vehicle manufacturer JAC Motors has in response to the EFF in KZN, distanced themselves from the musician.

“We further wish to place on record that Mr Ngizwe Mchunu is not a JAC South Africa (Pty) Ltd sponsored ambassador. We trust this clarifies our position.”
