If you’re thinking that the lunar phase looks particularly bright, you’d be right.

During the Waxing phase, the moon becomes brighter and brighter until the full lunar event that happens later this month.

Lunar phases explained

The lunar phases take the glowing sky orb from New Moon, to what we call the full lunar event.

Once it is full, the illumination will again start to go down.

This is why some nights are brighter than others, and why full lunar events make almost everything brighter to look at in the evenings. During events like the supermoon, coastal areas are usually warned about high-tides, which react to the lunar phase’s pull.
