We were all pretty hyped when we saw Miley Cyrus kicking it in Cape Town last month, and as it turns out, she was here for both business and pleasure in equal measure.

Black Mirror season five details

Her sister Brandi flew out to the Mother City three days before Miley left, and the pair had some quality time together. It’s since been revealed that the Wrecking Ball singer has been filming scenes for the fifth season of Black Mirror, shooting alongside Marc Menchaca of Ozark fame.

Charlie Brooker’s latest offerings are set to go live on Netflix in December, so the production crew are certainly cutting it fine when it comes to getting the whole thing ready. Details about the content of the anthology series have been kept tightly under wraps, though.

Miley Cyrus in Cape Town

The lesser-spotted Cyrus returned to her podcast, Wells and Brandi, to relive her experience in “Africa” – sigh, it’s just an American thing we suppose – and ended up spilling the beans about Miley’s stay here.

Brandi also lifted the lid on what the sisters got up to during their stay and, we’re not gonna lie, it all sounded LIT:

  • Horse-riding in Stellenbosch.
  • Staying between Gardens and the V&A Waterfront.
  • Hiking up Lions Head.
  • Chilling at the “California-like” Camps Bay.
  • A stay at the Addo Game Reserve in Eastern Cape.

What the Cyrus sisters made of South Africa

Brandi admitted there was a bit of a culture shock when she arrived in the Mother City, though. The division of the poor and the wealthy “surprised” her, despite knowing beforehand that “it wasn’t right”. Both sisters were a little taken aback by the security measures on private properties, commenting on how sprawling electric fences were in the suburbs.

Welcome to South Africa, gals: Life can be one constant episode of Black Mirror, here. Bad jokes aside, we’re very much looking forward to seeing Miley’s TV comeback, and one of the greatest shows on Netflix wowing audiences one more. We’re gonna have a lot of fun spotting Cape Town in the background, too!
