Mantashe disregards ‘frivolous’ motion of no confidence in Zuma; completely backfires

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe’s being given a proper grilling online following comments he made about the DA’s “annual” motion of no confidence in Jacob Zuma.

Mantashe’s come out in defence of el presidente, even going so far as to say that former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s State of Capture reports is inconclusive and doesn’t prove anyone guilty.

Now, while the latter might be true, what Mantashe failed to mention was that his spine had clearly been removed during Monday’s NEC meeting where the ANC top brass chatted about all the kak they’re having to deal with lately.

Mantashe said calls for Zuma are “premature and unfounded,” labelling the DA’s motion of no confidence “an annual frivolous ritual.”

“The discussion of the vote of no confidence has no chance of succeeding‚” he said.

Mantashe on Tuesday said the ANC had met to discuss the State of Capture report and the coming debate in parly that could leave Zuma and the entire NEC without a job – something chief whip Jackson Mthembu a few weeks ago seemed to think was a great idea –.

“The ANC is of the view that the recommendations are inconclusive and contain no guilty finding on any party.”

Now, while Mantashe and the rest of the ruling – for now – party top brass seems to be OK with doing business as usual; South Africans aren’t convinced and had a field day with the ageing politician on Twitter.

Gwede, it didn’t have to be this way man.
