Ladles of Love delivers food, and hope, to Cape Town’s most underprivileged

In these difficult times, it is heartwarming to see groups of people who are going out of their way to make a difference in the lives of people unable to help themselves.

The worldwide pandemic has brought with it uncertainty and change. Navigating these uncharted waters is difficult for everyone, but even more so, the poor and vulnerable who had very little to begin with.

There are countless groups and organisations trying to do what they can to help the underprivileged members of South African society. There are feeding schemes situated all over the country that are doing their best to support those in need who are unable to work during lockdown and who are living below the poverty line.

Ladles of Love is one such organisation.

What is Ladles of Love?

Ladles of Love is an extensive community project dedicated to feeding hungry people in Cape Town. Their soup kitchens feed the homeless of Cape Town every week, and their help extends to school children, students and communities who cannot feed themselves.

During the nationwide lockdown, Ladles of Love has begun a feeding scheme called #TogetherinIsolation.

Ladles of Love also started the Love Sandwich Project which anyone living in Cape Town can support.

So far, during our nationwide lockdown, the generosity shown by members of the public has been overwhelming.

On their Facebook page, Ladles of Love said: “Awesome volunteers have been collecting sandwiches from homes all over the Atlantic Seaboard. They have so far collected 11,500 sandwiches to feed those in need. How incredible is that?”
